Chapter 1137: You’re Peeking at Me Again?

Chapter 1137: You’re Peeking at Me Again?

Su Li was sitting on the little sofa, feeling dejected, when a string of light, tinkling footsteps sounded outside the door. A small head poked in after a knock, and a well-behaved little voice said, "Mama, all the camping stuff is ready. We can set off now."Feng Huaijin had finally gotten a vacation, so he was going to take the two of them to the foot of the mountain to escape the heat. The temperature there wasn’t as high as in the city and was very comfortable.

Tuanzi was full of anticipation for this camping trip and had spent several days in a row studying little tips about camping in the wild.

When Su Li heard that, her shoulders instantly slumped, and her little face drooped even more.

She didn’t want to go camping in the wild!

Just thinking about having to spend the night o-u-t-d-o-o-r-s, with who knew what bugs in the grass and possibly snakes in the mountains, and actually having to stay there all night, made her feel miserable.

But seeing Tuanzi’s face full of expectation, all the complaints Su Li wanted to make were forcibly swallowed back down.

Su Li changed into a set of black breathable casual clothes that covered both her arms and her long legs, her expression one of utter despair as she followed Tuanzi outside.

Feng Huaijin wasn’t wearing his usual black suit. Dressed in a sharp black top and trousers that wrapped his strong build, he reached out to take the bag from Su Li’s hand, the corners of his lips lifting. "Su Li, I’m taking you out to have fun, not persecuting you. What’s with that expression?"

Su Li was on the verge of tears.

She hated camping in the wild; it felt just like being forced to take PE class back in high school!

Feng Huaijin gave Tuanzi’s little head a light pat and said lazily, "Tuanzi, your mom doesn’t want to play with you. She’s about to cry."

Tuanzi immediately looked up at her, and Su Li instantly put on a smile.

"No, Daddy’s lying to me again!"

Su Li said weakly, "Let’s go."

Tuanzi was so excited; they had to go sooner or later anyway.

Su Li really couldn’t understand why men all liked to go camping in the wild at least once...

All the way there, Feng Huaijin was explaining outdoor safety to Tuanzi—how to deal with birds of prey and such—making the little glutinous-rice-ball’s eyes shine with even more admiration.

Su Li leaned to the side, looking like a deflated balloon.

Through the rearview mirror, Feng Huaijin swept a glance at her, the corners of his mouth curling. "You might find something you like."

Su Li said nothing. Just thinking about the mosquitoes in the woods made her scalp tingle. Like it, my foot.

She’d much rather be sitting on the sofa at home, scrolling on her phone and eating melon, watching that bunch of rivals wail and sob pitifully because this investigation had them all riled up.

The car gradually pulled up to the foot of the mountain. As expected, the temperature was lower than in the city, making Su Li feel unbelievably cool and refreshed.

Following the father and son to the spot they’d spent half the day picking out for the tent, Su Li could faintly hear the sound of running water not far away.

It was mountain spring water flowing down from the hills, particularly clear and cool. Su Li scooped up a handful, and the summer heat in her body dissipated quite a bit in an instant.

Tuanzi shouted excitedly behind her, "Daddy, let’s pitch the tent together! I’ve read the instructions so many times!"

Taking out the tent, Feng Huaijin said carelessly, "That’s just talk on paper."

Su Li stood off to the side, watching Feng Huaijin lead that half-pint glutinous-rice dumpling in seriously setting up the tent.

In the night, the side profile of Feng Huaijin as he carefully guided Tuanzi was sharply defined, the lines of his face extremely enticing.

A man looks his best when he’s serious—especially a man who’s serious about teaching his son.

Su Li found herself spacing out as she watched, only to meet his suddenly lifted, dark, deep gaze head-on.

"Catching me sneaking looks again?"
