Chapter 1029 - 1026: Living Together (Part 2)
She left, and her first instinct was to look at him. Before she could say anything, she heard him speak."I no longer need any care."
He knew what kind of person he was; he could see through her thoughts. She came to find him out of guilt and showed such diligence every day.
He should be happy, but...
In any case, he neither hoped for nor wanted her false and fleeting concern.
"Well then, I’ll head back. I’ll come see you next time." Carla said, "I’m planning to leave this afternoon, you don’t need to see me off."
She was wrong back then.
Wrong is wrong.
So now, she dared not to wish to be with him, as long as he was fine, that’s all that mattered.
...
That afternoon, Carla left.
Since she hadn’t brought anything with her when she came, she left with ease, yet her heart felt empty and very uncomfortable.
During this time staying at the High General Mansion, being with Alexander was somewhat akin to cohabitation. They slept in the same room, the same bed, but never engaged in those intimate acts.
During these days of cohabitation, occasionally at night she would notice his reaction and each time she had to keep a distance.
Fortunately, this dreadful cohabitation period was about to end now!!
Before leaving, Alexander had already gone upstairs to the study. Knowing she was going to leave, he didn’t want to watch her tiny figure as she departed, so he went to the study to immerse himself in work, attempting to numb himself. But who knew, he was utterly distracted.
Although he held documents in his hands, he didn’t absorb a word, instead his mind was completely blank.
...
Alexander sat in the study for the entire afternoon.
For some reason, he felt quite uncomfortable, couldn’t pinpoint where exactly, just uncomfortable all over—a very painful kind of discomfort.
It wasn’t until six in the evening that the housekeeper came upstairs, knocked on Alexander’s door, and said, "Admiral, it’s time to come down for dinner."
"Admiral!"
Still no response from inside the room, since it was the study the door wasn’t closed, the housekeeper entered a bit further, continued politely, "Admiral? It’s dinner time, please come downstairs to eat."
Alexander still didn’t respond.
Housekeeper: Oh my, what’s wrong with the Admiral today? Normally he’s fine, but why is he daydreaming today?
Even after calling him three times, he didn’t respond.
It’s quite odd, ever since Miss Carr left years ago, the Admiral changed, now she finally returned and left again.
The Admiral suddenly became absent-minded, it must be related to Miss Carr leaving, right?!
"Admiral, are you..." The housekeeper raised her voice a bit, Alexander finally came back to his senses, and then looked at her, confused, "What is it?"
Housekeeper: "Admiral, it’s time for dinner. The young master was punished to go to Africa, so he didn’t come up to call you for dinner, I came to fetch you, but you didn’t seem to hear despite several attempts."
"Admiral, are you feeling unwell? Should I call a doctor for you?"
Considering the Admiral was injured and although he recuperated for half a month and was almost better, the current situation seemed worse than before; he didn’t look well.
The housekeeper rambled on.
Alexander said nothing, got up, and left the study.
As a result, roughly ten minutes later, a doctor hurriedly arrived with a medical kit.
