Chapter 677: I Miss You So Much
Chapter 677: I Miss You So Much
She walked over step by step, stopping in front of the two of them. Without even looking at the woman beside Dao An, she stared directly at Dao An and, after holding back so many words, could only say, "It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? I didn’t expect to run into you here, what a coincidence, what a coincidence."It sounded like a cheerful tone, but only Sheng Yi knew how difficult it was to maintain that tone while saying it.
Dao An maintained his calm appearance and responded to her with the warmth one uses when seeing an ordinary friend, "It has been a long time, Miss Sheng Yi."
He looked at the girl in front of him, full of life and radiance, and thought of how she had just received a bouquet of flowers from a man, smiling so sweetly at the time. Hearing her take the initiative to greet him and watching her walk up to him, he almost couldn’t help but want to embrace her, to savor the preciousness of this moment.
But he couldn’t.
Afraid of startling her with his sudden actions, scared that his intense longing for her would be too evident and frighten her away, causing her to never even greet him again the next time they met.
"So your name is Sheng Yi?" Jane’s voice came through.
With this voice, Sheng Yi had no choice but to cast her gaze on the woman next to Dao An.
"Yes, my name is Sheng Yi." Unable to control her tone, it came out slightly irritated.
Jean frowned upon hearing this less friendly tone, thinking, what a little brat!
She couldn’t quite figure out what that scene was about. After all, Ann’s reaction was hard to understand; he appeared calm, yet somehow didn’t seem so calm. And the way this woman looked at Ann made Jane feel very uneasy.
Sheng Yi also noticed the assertiveness in this woman’s eyes, not only seeing it but also noticing how she tightened her grip on Dao An’s arm. Yet, she couldn’t show anger, she had to smile and ask Dao An, "Dao An, aren’t you going to introduce her?"
Women can read other women best.
Jane immediately took the upper hand, "I’m Ann’s girlfriend!"
After finishing, she didn’t even wait for Ann to speak before saying, "I just happened to see Miss Sheng Yi receiving flowers from her boyfriend while we were dining just now, so envious." Pouting slightly and in a slightly coquettish and dissatisfied tone, she continued, "Unlike our Ann, who seldom has such romantic moments, aside from occasionally sweet-talking me."
When Jane said these words, she knew Ann would definitely clarify.
She didn’t mind Ann clarifying specifically.
But she just wanted to deliberately assert her sovereignty, declaring that this man was hers. Who would dare covet the man Jane had her eyes on?!
But next, what surprised Jane was that Ann didn’t clarify what she had just said; his silence equated to tacit approval, he didn’t even give her any glance to prompt her.
Sheng Yi, listening to what that woman said and seeing Dao An’s attitude, was already tearing up in anger. How could she not understand? Dao An had really fallen in love with another woman abroad, Dao An no longer liked her...
"You two," Sheng Yi’s throat almost choked up, the words meant to be a blessing twisted into something else, "You two don’t look suited for each other at all."
Jane: "..."
Dao An’s deep, silent pupils.
After saying this, Sheng Yi realized she shouldn’t have said it, but since it was already said, she did not regret it. Seeing Dao An’s expression thinking he was angry, she forced a smile to save face, "I’m just speaking without thinking, don’t be mad."
Jane raised her eyebrows smugly, "Why would we be mad, we’re not."
Although she said she didn’t care, Jane didn’t truly feel that way inside.
Was this woman really just a normal friend to Dao An?
However, Dao An didn’t even bother to clarify her claim of being his girlfriend because of this woman, he seemed to show no intention of denying it.
Sheng Yi forced a smile, her hands were clenching and unclenching the strap of her purse, and her voice was low, "I was also dining in this restaurant just now, forgot to take my phone case when I left, went back and happened to meet... an old friend, see you around."
When she said "old friend," Sheng Yi didn’t dare look at Dao An again.
She was afraid that if she looked a few more times, she would start crying uncontrollably, and if she really did, it would be too embarrassing!
The phone case...
Jane’s gaze fell on the crook of Ann’s arm, realizing if she didn’t see it wrong earlier, Ann had put that phone case underneath his coat. Clearly seeing the owner of the phone case coming back to retrieve it but not taking it out, Ann, it seems your claimed ordinary relationship is anything but ordinary...
"I-I’ll go get my phone case, let’s chat some other time." Her little face was tense, not wanting to face the "loving couple" before her any longer, turning and hastily retreating back to the table.
Jane watched her figure walking towards the table, speaking to the man beside her, "Ann, aren’t you going to return the phone case to your friend?"
Having spoken, she didn’t hear a response from the man.
Jane curiously looked up at the man beside her, "Ann, keeping someone’s belongings without permission isn’t like you."
Dao An’s voice was indifferent, "You can choose to tell her."
Jane pursed her lips. Moral issues like this never concerned Ann. But something much more troubling than moral issues concerning Ann and this female star remained—an inexplicable entanglement between them.
Ann liking this female star?
This outcome was unacceptable to Jane!
"Hey, Ann, don’t walk so fast!"
"Ann, wait."
In a blink, Dao An removed Jane’s hand and walked straight ahead, and Jane quickly chased after him.
At the table, Sheng Yi found that the table had been cleared up and there was no sign of her phone case. It must have been taken away by the staff, so Sheng Yi, holding back her already broken emotions, turned to leave, prepared to ask a staff member if they took her phone case while clearing the table.
Turning around, she realized they were already gone.
They must have left.
Sheng Yi stood in place, her mind replaying the scene from when she first met Dao An, his indifference, calm reaction, and apart from a fleeting hint of surprise, none of the expressions she hoped for, nothing at all.
Dao An really didn’t like her anymore.
Not even a bit.
Sheng Yi felt increasingly miserable, her long-held emotions breaking, tears rolling down uncontrollably, unable to stop.
At this moment, she didn’t care about the curious gazes of others in the restaurant, wiping away tears as she descended the stairs.
From the staff, she retrieved her phone case, having been well-kept for her. Sheng Yi thanked them, though they did not mention the request from the gentleman who had handed over the phone case not to tell its owner.
Sheng Yi exited almost hugging the flowers, tears flowing uncontrollably.
Entering the car, she sobbed and dialed Gu Yuan’s number. After ringing twice, it picked up, and Sheng Yi, holding the phone to her ear, whimpered pitifully, "Yuanyuan, I want to go back home..."
