Chapter 454 The Weakness of the Anti-Monitor, the Barrier of the Dark Multiverse
Chapter 454 The Weakness of the Anti-Monitor, the Barrier of the Dark Multiverse
Chapter 454 The Weakness of the Anti-Monitor, the Barrier of the Dark Multiverse
I am Möbius.
But the multiverse may be more familiar with my other name:
Counter-surveillance.
But the truth is, I am not the anti-surveillance agent himself. I know very well that I am just a broken copy, an inferior imitation, but more than that.
As far as I know, anti-surveillance has two origins.
One origin story is about a mortal scientist named Möbius… who, in his thirst for knowledge, researched the anti-life equation and ultimately became a slave to this power.
The other origin... is much more complex than this one.
In short, perhaps we should start from the beginning.
In the beginning of time, there was a place called the Origin, where an invisible giant hand gathered together the raw materials that make up the multiverse.
The mother of the multiverse, Papetua, was sent by the Origin to transform those raw materials into a functioning multiverse.
The sixth-dimensional world first appeared under the forging of Papetua. This is the central control room of the DC multiverse and the highest level of the DC multiverse.
Then Perpetua created the rest of the DC multiverse, using the seven energies to create three parts: positive matter became the building block of the world, antimatter constructed a negative universe in contrast to the positive universe, which we call the antimatter universe. And dark matter gave birth to a world full of infinite possibilities.
By then, Papetua had completed her mission, and her time had come to an end, so that her energy could return to its origin.
But she rejected her fate.
She began experimenting on the creatures at the center of this new multiverse, transforming them into deadly, cutting-edge predators. Her plan was to build an army to fight against any creation that the Origin might send, thereby prolonging her life and maintaining control over this reality.
She was betrayed by her own flesh and blood; her three offspring conspired to create the "Cosmic Tuning Fork," which, simply put, is a large horn.
They used the Cosmic Tuning Fork to send a signal to the Omnipotent Universe, informing her superiors of her overstepping of authority.
The higher creations responded. They channeled immense energy to seal off Papetua herself, her energy, and her immortal, elite Predator army.
The Cosmic Raptor defeated Pepatia and her army of Prometheus, and she was sealed on a high wall at the edge of the multiverse, an endless barrier that separates our multiverse from the Omnipotent Universe and its very center, the Origin.
This barrier is what people call the Origin Wall.
However, after the Antimonitor betrayed his mother along with his two brothers, he was suddenly shocked to discover that the existence of the Origin Wall rendered his antimatter universe meaningless due to its construction.
Originally, the purpose of the antimatter universe was to protect the boundaries of the multiverse. However, now that the omnipotent universe has been blocked by the Origin Wall, this newly born universe no longer needs the antimatter universe to protect its boundaries, and naturally, it no longer needs the existence of the anti-monitor.
This infuriated the anti-surveillance activists, who believed that the surveillance activists must pay the price.
Therefore, he continuously accumulated power through the anti-life equation, and then one day...
He triggered a crisis on infinite Earths.
The crisis resulted in a crushing defeat for the Anti-Monitor, who was defeated by heroes from across the multiverse. Not only did he lose his physical body, but his soul was also shattered like fireworks by a punch from Clark Kent, the old Superman from Earth-2.
The young Superman also joined the war. This was the golden age of the DC universe, where the character of every hero shone like gold.
However, the Anti-Monitor cannot die. No matter how many times he is destroyed in the multiverse, he can be reborn in the sixth dimension because he is the supreme god of the DC.
But this does not mean that he will be able to regain all his power after being reborn... After being reborn, the Anti-Monitor will become weaker and will never be as powerful as he was during the Infinite Earth Crisis.
But this is not permanent.
Those scattered powers... the Anti-Monitors will eventually find them and slowly restore the power of the DC Supreme God, if... if nothing unexpected happens.
Many years have passed in the multiverse, and many things have happened during this time. The timeline has been restarted time and time again: Infinite Crisis, Zero Hour... and then my birth.
I am the dark multiverse mirror image of the anti-monitor Möbius, and my birth has two important conditions:
I. The Flashpoint event occurred. Barry Allen's reversal of time caused a timeline reboot, an act that directly created the mortal scientist Möbius's version of the Anti-Monitor.
However, the mortal Möbius only existed for a very short time. After the flashpoint, the world underwent another small reboot.
That is, the rebirth of the DC universe.
This time, many people regained their memories from before the timeline reboot, but this reboot brought a huge change for the anti-surveillance agents.
The mortal Möbius scientist version of the Anti-Monitor, which appeared in the New 52 era after the Flashpoint Reboot, was completely erased after the DC Universe Rebirth, leaving no trace.
Everyone has forgotten about this anti-monitor, and even the anti-monitor himself was reborn in the sixth dimension, completely ignoring his past as a mortal.
But... but that's not the case at all.
With the world restarting, the anti-surveillance agents are no longer the same anti-surveillance agents they used to be.
As for the mortal Möbius version of the anti-monitor who was erased after the timeline was restarted, he should also be submerged among the countless characters erased due to time restarts since the birth of the DC universe. No one will notice the face of the mortal Möbius anti-monitor.
However, at this time...
The second condition that brought me into this world has occurred:
II. The world's forgers are dead.
As the eldest of the three sons born to Perpetua, the mother of the multiverse, the World Forger's duty is to forge normal, intact individual universes. However, in the process, he often creates some inferior universes that are of substandard quality.
That is, the Dark Multiverse.
Originally, these dark multiverses were supposed to be destroyed by Barbatos, the Dark Multiverse Dragon, the pet of the World Builder. This dragon was supposed to be responsible for destroying those worlds, but Barbatos did not do so. He preserved these dark multiverses and watched them grow and thrive.
When Barbatos' power reached a certain level, he turned against his master.
When the World Forger died and returned to the sixth dimension to await rebirth, Barbatos completely took control of the entire Dark Multiverse. Those Dark Multiverses began to appear in a stable manner, and then, in one doomsday after another, they became part of the power of Barbatos, the dragon of the Dark Multiverse.
Barbatos's Dark Multiverse is a mirror image of the normal multiverse. Those that the World Builders deemed defective needed to be destroyed by Barbatos and then recycled as energy.
However, within this vast dark multiverse, there exists a mirror image of the Anti-Monitor.
Of course, that anti-monitor was pitifully weak; he was merely the most flawed mirror image, just like the flawed Superman Supreme I once saw in that infinite multiverse crisis, killed by a kryptonite gun.
But even as a counterfeit anti-surveillance agent in the dark multiverse, he is still an anti-surveillance agent.
That Dark Multiverse is replicating Crisis on Infinite Earths. After the heroes of that Dark Multiverse defeated the defective Anti-Monitor, the Anti-Monitor's corpse was possessed by an Anti-Monitor force from the New 52 era.
A brand new Anti-Monitor, that is, I, was born. But I am no longer the empty shell of an Anti-Monitor created by the World Forger in the Dark Multiverse, but rather a part of the essence of the mortal Möbius from the New 52 era, reborn in the Dark Multiverse.
My existence was timed almost perfectly: the World Forger died before he could be reborn in the sixth dimension, and the Anti-Monitor died in a similar situation.
The only two powerful beings capable of stopping me were unable to intervene, and thus I was born.
A part of me comes from the New 52 era, from the mortal Möbius version of the Anti-Monitor who was erased from the timeline. I am a remnant of that Anti-Monitor's essence.
My other part comes from the residual energy that dissipated into the multiverse after the Anti-Monitor was killed during the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
The combination of two energies and essences constitutes my existence.
I am Möbius, and I know very well that the world I live in right now is the Dark Multiverse.
Barbatos, the god of the Dark Multiverse, is not someone to be trifled with. I am no longer a being of the Dark Multiverse, and if he discovers this, my fate will be dire.
Therefore, I must devour as much of the universe as possible and accumulate as much power as possible.
Barbatos, like me, is also accumulating power in an attempt to invade the multiverse. But before that, he has erected a barrier between the multiverse and his dark multiverse in an attempt to prevent all beings in the dark multiverse and the multiverse from potentially spying on each other's existence.
I have the ability to shatter this barrier created by Barbatos. I am strong enough that once I break this barrier, I will be able to send myself or others into the normal multiverse.
But I will not do that in the end. Because I am not a pure Dark Multiverse being, doing so would be tantamount to exposing myself to Barbatos.
The Dark Multiverse is the source of Barbatos' power, and I, an incomplete being of the Dark Multiverse, am devouring his Dark Multiverse, which is tantamount to stealing food from Barbatos' bowl.
I am not the real anti-surveillance agent, but his remnant... but remnant is still remnant, even powerful remnant.
I am no match for Barbatos. If he discovers me, I will probably be forced to flee into the Light Multiverse to save my life.
Therefore, even if I had the ability to open a passage between the Dark Multiverse and the Light Multiverse, I would not do so, under any circumstances.
"Who exactly are you?"
I heard the Batman on the other end ask, "That's the question that Batmen asked most often in the parallel universes I destroyed before."
"You can figure it out yourself," I said. "Don't expect me to be stupid enough to tell you."
I am Möbius, the mortal Möbius, and also the anti-surveillance agent.
I would never be so foolish as to reveal who I am to the Batman in front of me, only to have him find my weaknesses and use them against me.
