Chapter 303 The Manifest Mandate of Heaven, Long Awaited
Chapter 303 The Manifest Mandate of Heaven, Long Awaited (Part 1) 5000-word long chapter
My name is Barry Allen, and I'm currently involved in the biggest cosmic war of my superhero career.
I originally thought that in such a war, my main task would be to fight against powerful enemies with my superhero friends, defeat villains, be wiped out, or return in triumph.
But now... I'm just waiting, there's nothing I can do.
"I have to go help Diana and the others."
The Flash said to Killer Croc standing next to him:
"I can't just sit here and wait, or I should go help Batman."
"Batman's exact words were that he asked 'Diana and Hal' to ignore the ceasefire agreement with Darkseid and take down Steppenwolf first. Note his personnel arrangements; he didn't ask you to participate in the battle, but rather told you to wait here."
Killer Croc said, "Although he hasn't told me exactly what he wants you to do, I believe he has a reason for keeping you here."
At this moment, they appeared in another newly built building in the Red of All Beings. Beside them, the gorilla Grud and the turtle man were bound in two transparent ball cages, acting as "batteries".
The Flash noticed that both of them seemed a bit dazed, as if their thoughts and reactions were a beat slow—
Seriously, didn't Batman give them any drugs to prevent them from causing any trouble in case something went wrong?
He then turned his gaze to another cage, where the Meditation Mite, with its semi-transparent body, lay half-dead. Barry Allen believed that the psychological trauma was more severe for this magical worm than its physical injuries.
It's worth noting that the cages of the three villains were all connected to a cosmic treadmill not far away. The Flash understood that Batman could extend the time he could transform into that "super-transformation form" using Gorilla Grodd and Turtle Man. The underlying principle of this operation was to use the Speed Force and Stasis to slow down time around the opponent while accelerating his own speed, thus distributing the energy expenditure among the two villains... at least that's what Batman said.
But what does all this have to do with him? How did he end up on the treadmill too?
Well, Batman never tells him anything.
Barry gave a Flash-like sullen look. He turned to look at the large alligator with its arms crossed.
"But I've waited too long," the Flash said. "I think we should contact them and ask..."
But as soon as he opened his mouth, he met the crocodile's lifelike Batman-like gaze and immediately gave in.
"Okay, okay, I know Batman has his own plans, but I'm just worried."
As he said this, he ran to the side at the fastest speed on Earth, poured himself a cup of tea, and drank it all in one gulp.
Poison Ivy, who was waiting nearby, said, "Hey, do you know that when you drink your tea, it looks to me like you're drinking human limb scraps?"
The Flash paused for a moment, his first reaction being to apologize: "Ah, sorry, I didn't know..."
His reaction made Poison Ivy laugh out loud: "It's nothing, just kidding. I'm way past the age of being an extreme plant conservationist."
(Note: In the early part of the comics, Poison Ivy completely mistook plants for humans, and any plant products she saw were like the remains of a murder victim to her. However, she is not so extreme in the later part of the comics.)
She said, "I used to treat plants..."
She was about to talk about her life experiences in Gotham City over the decades, and her journey from villain to superhero, when she was immediately interrupted by the loud howls of Gorilla Grodd and Turtle Man.
She immediately exchanged a glance with the killer crocodile.
"Batman is using that transformation called Red Death," Poison Ivy whispered.
She summoned a vine, controlling the computer beside her: "And he said he would soon issue us commands through the Metal Spirit's remote communication..."
sizzle...
Almost the instant Poison Ivy turned the computer around, a green Batman icon composed of countless zeros and ones appeared on the screen.
"Give him—sizzle…give him the thing I prepared…sizzle…Kidnapper…boom boom boom boom…"
The other party's voice sounded distant and intermittent, occasionally punctuated by loud explosions.
Killer Croc immediately pressed down on the wall, and then he pulled out a metal, octopus-like object from the wall.
The thing looks like a ring with seven or eight metal tentacles growing out of it.
"The Flash, Barry Allen... Zzzzz... Take this. It's Reverse-Flash and Gorilla City technology that can help you absorb the Speed Force of others."
The Flash heard Batman's voice, and the communication gradually became clearer: "I need you to do something dangerous."
The Flash didn't say a word. He took the octopus-like machine from Killer Croc, fixed the central ring to the lightning bolt symbol on his Flash suit, and the other metal tentacles immediately attached to his body.
Although it was his first time seeing the machine, he quickly figured out how to wear it thanks to the super speed boost from the Speed Force.
One side of the octopus machine had a "+" sign, and that side was smaller than the other, indicating that it should face outwards. The metal tentacles that automatically attached to his body also proved that he hadn't put on the wrong clothes.
"What should I do?"
He asked.
"You put on the wrong prop."
But then he heard Batman say, "Don't rush. Killer Croc, help him get dressed properly."
Killer Croc walked over, ripped the octopus machine off Barry, then turned him around and put it back on him in the same way.
Barry looked down and saw that the "+" that was originally facing outwards had become a "-". It turned out that the narrow side of the ring was facing the person's body instead of the wide side.
This design is a bit strange, making it look like someone has a small trumpet growing out of their chest.
Barry, however, was not interested in such details. He asked, "So, do I need to join the fight?"
"Yes."
Then he heard Batman speaking, and then he saw Killer Croc come over and lightly press the octopus machine twice. Soon, the machine turned into countless tiny metal particles with a metallic mechanical sound, which began to adhere to his entire body. Finally, it changed color to resemble the Flash's uniform, meaning that Barry was already wearing a uniform, but then he put on an identical layer of clothing on top of it...
It's exactly the same Flash suit that Chen Tao gave Reverse-Flash before.
"Yes, The Flash, Barry Allen."
Barry heard Batman's voice:
"Fate has been waiting for us for a long time."
……
……
……
"Awoooa ...
Blood stained the sky.
The indestructible body of the Supreme Superman was cut open, and he let out a desperate scream.
Darkseid's previous series of heavy punches only caused him to bleed from the nose, and the Black Runner's attack only caused a hole in his incredibly tough body.
But the black runner, possessed by Reverse Lightning, truly injured him.
Reverse Lightning wasn't much better.
Unlike Superman, who was merely injured, Reverse-Flash in his Black Runner form had half of his body reduced to subatomic size due to the high-speed impact, with the remaining half of his body exposed, a gruesome sight comparable to Hughie's girlfriend being smashed into mincemeat by a train in The Boys.
Such injuries would kill anyone. Although the speedster has self-healing abilities, he is not Wolverine from Marvel.
However, the black runner quickly repaired his body, allowing him to stand in place as if nothing had happened.
"That's terrifying..."
Reverse-Flash looked down at his hands: "There's a voice... a voice telling me they all have to die. They must die."
He staggered slightly, lowered his head, and covered his head, saying, "Stop shouting!"
"Die die die die die die die die die die die..."
"That's enough!"
Reverse Lightning felt his will was being constantly devoured by the Black Runner, the embodiment of death. At this moment, his heart was as still as a deep well, as if nothing could arouse his interest.
That's not right.
That's not right at all.
He can't become like this. If he continues like this, he will completely become a puppet of the Black Runners, losing all self-awareness and becoming nothing more than a tool for spreading death.
He absolutely cannot accept such an ending!
"Those things Batman gave me..."
He forcefully raised his palm; this simple action now felt incredibly heavy to him.
But he did it in the end. In the opened portable extradimensional space, he poured a large handful of bright green water from the Lhasa Road Pool onto his forehead, making him look like a quenched sword, emitting some black mist like steam.
"It's not enough, it's not enough... Get away from me!"
But Reverse-Flash couldn't stop his freedom from being devoured. In a panic and anger, he grabbed the swamp monster tuber that Batman had prepared for him and put it in his mouth to gnaw on. But the next second, even the panic and anger subsided.
"Calm down, calm down... Batman told me that with my willpower I can fight off the Black Runner's control... He even gave me the Green Light Ring."
Reverse Lightning sat cross-legged, the Green Lantern ring glowing brightly in his palm, enveloping it like a cocoon.
"I need to fight the black runner with willpower... Batman said if the Flash can do it, so can I..."
"I need to rekindle my emotions, those most intense ones..."
Reverse Flash clutched his head, desperately trying to recall anything that might trigger his emotions.
He first reflected on his most famous discovery about the Speed Force, the things he was most proud of, the milestones in his life.
"Extreme Speed Formula, Faster-than-Light Particles, Reverse Speed Force, Speed 9 Enhancement Potion."
No use at all.
"The Flash's pitiful gaze."
With a whoosh, a surge of intense rage welled up in Reverse-Flash's heart. Just imagining the scene made him jump up from the ground in anger. With a deafening roar, Reverse-Flash, who had provoked himself to the point of rage, roared and tore his own body apart. With the blessing of the Green Lantern Ring, he dispelled the Black Runner's power with sheer willpower.
The black shadow was forced to detach from his body and disappeared into the void like a stray dog.
Reverse Lightning collapsed to the ground, utterly exhausted. His legs felt weak, and he felt completely drained, unable to utter a single word.
His Flash suit also turned into countless metal particles and fell to the ground like living metal objects. First, it turned into a machine that looked like an octopus, and then it immediately turned back into the red suit.
Without Reverse-Flash's control, the Green Lantern Ring automatically opened that extradimensional space, and the Flash suit itself grew legs and crawled inside, quickly disappearing from sight.
However, Reverse-Flash didn't care about any of that.
Despite the pain in every bone of his body, as if he had been hit by Superman, he was still filled with joy because the reality before him was just as Batman had said: he was severely injured.
Given his physical condition, he is absolutely incapable of participating in the upcoming battles.
"Fate...fate awaits me."
Reverse Flash rolled over, panting heavily, and struggled to his feet, slowly inching his way away from the battlefield.
The matter is now quite clear.
Superman the Primal has been severely injured, and the alliance between Darkseid and Batman has won a great victory.
This likely means that their battle is about to begin.
Batman may be no match for Darkseid, so he will inevitably summon the entire Justice League to fight alongside him.
He had also taught The Flash the move to banish enemies to a parallel universe and imprison them forever.
Fate is truly the greatest director!
Reverse Flash suppressed his inner elation and ecstasy, limping away from the battlefield. He felt a little better, so he began to run at a very slow pace, but even so, he was faster than the train.
He had to hide in a safe place and quietly wait for the battle to end.
On the other side of the battlefield, the situation was roughly as Reverse Flash had predicted.
The Supreme Little Superman knelt on the ground.
The black runner, the embodiment of Reverse Lightning, pierced through his body, tearing it apart like cardboard.
With the biological stance that would be overwhelming for anyone shattered, Superman the Supreme was completely powerless to resist.
He was breathing heavily, making a hoarse sound as blood rushed into his lungs.
Darkseid got up from the ground and touched his cheek, which had been beaten all along.
Batman stood beside him, side by side.
Be careful.
He heard Batman say, "Even the current Superman Supreme is still dangerous enough."
Darkseid certainly knew, otherwise he would have acted immediately.
Don't be fooled by Superman's current pained appearance and seemingly serious injuries. Darkseid is certain that if he actually thought that way and foolishly rushed in to try and kill him, he would die a horrible death.
Such an attack at most weakened the opponent; Superman was injured and became weaker...
But that doesn't mean you've become stronger.
But also...
Darkseid turned his head to the side, desperately trying to hide the fiery look in his eyes.
Batman snapped his fingers.
Immediately afterward, a sonic boom tunnel connecting Earth and Apokolips opened beside him, and The Flash emerged from it.
Barry didn't waste any words; he knew this wasn't the time for banter. He glanced at Darkseid, then immediately went to Batman's side to receive his mission.
Chen Tao also began to emulate Batman's traditional skill of ordering the Flash around.
"Running around Apokolips."
The Flash heard Batman whisper to him, "Unleash your speed."
"Why should I run around the entire planet?"
"It's just insurance, Barry. I need you to do this, please help me. Keep in touch."
The Flash nodded and vanished in a flash.
"I just need the Flash to help me recharge and use his Speed Force to speed me up."
Darkseid heard Batman explain to him in a low voice, but the perfunctory tone was almost obvious. The Lord of Apokolips could tell with his toes that Batman was talking nonsense and spouting rubbish.
But... it doesn't matter.
Whatever Batman is planning, it doesn't matter.
Darkseid's eyes burned with the flames of the Omega effect as he fired a curved beam of light, which Superman Supreme blocked with his heat vision.
"Superman has become weaker."
He heard Batman say to him, "Next, I'll open a portal and we'll work together to reattach him to the Source Wall. Superman the Primal will be back on the wall forever."
Superman's eyes lit up red, and he also heard the conversation between Batman and Darkseid.
A burning rage filled his heart. Despite being unable to move easily due to his injury, he didn't want to say another word. Then, his intense gaze, as thick as a bowl, shot directly at the two of them.
boom!
Darkseid deflected the attack with an Omega Ray, triggering a violent explosion.
Blood Bull, who had been circling and waiting outside Apokolips, also received news of Batman at this time. He then re-possessed the powerless Superman and regained control of his body.
"Ughh ...
The Supreme Superman let out a painful roar, and hallucinations reappeared before his eyes. Ignoring his injuries, he furiously unleashed his heat and rage at the empty air around him.
"Yes, yes, Superman will be on the wall forever."
Darkseid said.
He looked at the Supreme Superman in the distance, spraying heat vision, causing the already shattered ground to rain down rocks once again.
He turned his head, wanting to see the panicked expression on Batman's face.
"But don't you think...it's too wasteful?"
call……
Time seemed to stand still all of a sudden.
The Supreme Superman, who was still wreaking havoc in the distance, suddenly stopped punching, and red Omega-effect flames erupted from his eyes.
Darkseid, with his hands behind his back, turned around, flew into the air, and looked down at Batman, who had just been standing next to him.
Superman Supreme, now completely controlled by the Omega effect, flew to Darkseid's side.
"Did you think I was just fighting?"
Darkseid was taken aback.
He heard Batman seemingly reciting his own lines.
"Whatever tricks you have, Batman," he said, "they're all as ridiculous as children's games."
"That's really terrible."
Chen Tao said.
Darkseid didn't quite understand Batman's attitude. Didn't he have any worries at all?
Immediately afterwards, a golden portal opened, and Reverse Flash was pulled over again, looking completely bewildered.
