Chapter 49 Under the Moonlight
Chapter 49 Under the Moonlight
Chapter 49 Under the Moonlight
Lincoln March is a fictional character. He doesn't exist.
The Court of Owls created him. Brainwashed, Lincoln March firmly believes that he is Bruce Wayne's younger brother who died young, having only lived for 12 hours.
Martha Wayne frequently visited Willowwood Hospital during her lifetime.
She visited every child she sponsored, and the heart-shaped pin was a mark of honor. The Owl Court used this evidence to convince Lincoln that he was Bruce Wayne's brother.
They slowly guided Lincoln March, telling him that he was a child abandoned by his parents and brothers, and they gradually cultivated Lincoln March's hatred for the Wayne family.
They originally planned to use Lincoln March to seize the Wayne Group's assets, but unfortunately, Bruce Wayne returned at that time—so the plan was shelved.
So they created Lincoln March, to help them transform the city in another way—"You will become the beak of a giant owl!"
But it's also clear that Lincoln March isn't as obedient as he appears. He genuinely wants the city, just like the villains who want to control it.
But in reality, the reasons Lincoln March was hostile to Bruce Wayne, apart from the irreconcilable conflict of wanting to control the city, were at most just that "my brother forgot about me."
If Chen Tao were to tell him a new story he made up at this point: "His parents did not abandon him, and his brother never gave up looking for him, but all of this was stopped by the Owl Court. They stole you from your hospital bed, causing the tragedy of your life."
So, how will Lincoln March's attitude change?
……
……
……
Listen, Joker.
The Scarecrow walked up behind the Joker: "Batman is deliberately provoking you. He wants you to lose your mind and fight Bane, which is exactly what Batman wants."
He spoke very quickly, and despite his best efforts, he had no chance of calming the enraged clown down. Madmen like him were highly emotional creatures; normal people like him, who specialized in and studied fear, were the minority.
Despite being a psychiatrist, Scarecrow really had no experience dealing with psychopaths like the Joker.
"Hahahaha..." He heard the clown chuckle softly, then burst into hysterical laughter: "Hahahahahahaha!"
With a loud bang, the clown suddenly jumped up from the ground and kicked the drone, causing it to tip over.
A member of the Joker's gang nearby didn't have time to dodge and was immediately knocked to the ground. Before anyone could react, the Joker grabbed a submachine gun from one of his men and started firing directly at the drone and the gang member who had been knocked to the ground, rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat...
The firelight illuminated his pale face, and then the radio…
After the clown had vented his anger, all that remained was a corpse with its eyes wide open and a pile of scrap metal.
Everyone present was completely silent, as if frozen in fear.
"……clown?"
Only the scarecrow dared to speak without fear. He tentatively asked:
"Your mental state doesn't seem very good."
"I'm perfectly fine, hahaha... What could possibly be wrong with me?"
He laughed as he tossed the submachine gun back to his subordinate, tapping him on the head with his own forehead as a gesture of encouragement, just like any ordinary company boss.
He smiled and said, "Batman is using such underhanded tactics to try and provoke me... an utterly foolish choice."
He said, "Klein, you don't need to treat me like an idiot. Do you think I'm the kind of psychopath who would impulsively do Batman's thing and then immediately attack Bane?"
"That's right, you're a lunatic. The probability of the above events may be very small, but it's definitely not zero," the scarecrow thought to himself.
Of course, he wouldn't say such a thing in front of the Joker.
So the taciturn scarecrow simply nodded slightly, and then said:
"Okay, so what do we do next?"
"What should we do?"
The Joker picked up a submachine gun: "What else can we do? Our old bat already calculated that we won't kill Mayor Carlo today—hahahahahaha!"
So he's acting with impunity... Then why don't we go and find him ourselves?
"What? You know Batman's location...?"
Before the Scarecrow could finish speaking, he saw the Joker flip the radio over for a while and then find the address of Gotham's Old Wayne Tower on it.
"We're going to storm Wayne Tower."
He said.
"This is very likely a trap." The scarecrow carefully examined the address that the other party had secretly placed on the radio, and then said:
"Batman is practically openly provoking you. Going there now would be a trap."
The slender scarecrow offered its opinion: "My opinion is to ignore him and not go there at all. It's not worth the risk."
Before he could finish speaking, he saw the clown's red eyes and realized that he had wasted his breath.
……
……
……
"I've told you before, you don't understand me."
Pitch black. Utterly black.
"I don't laugh because you've never made me laugh."
The Joker heard Batman say this in the darkness.
As always, he and the bat confront each other in the darkness.
Time and time again, year after year. But this time, the other party hurt him too deeply.
"I'm not listening to that ridiculous talk."
"Think about it. Joker. I lack a sense of humor and don't know what a good joke is. But that doesn't mean you're funny."
"Shut up!"
The clown yelled, "Shut up, bat!"
"What I mean is—prank buttons, water sprayers, fake flowers are all outdated. Where are the new gadgets? Like making funny faces or taking off your pants."
"No, you get out here!"
"You make me laugh only because you're pathetic—"
"Hahahahahahahahahaha—"
It started with a low, melodious tone, and then gradually rose in pitch.
The Joker heard Batman's maniacal laughter, a sound that sent chills down his spine.
"That's enough! Stop laughing! I won't allow you to laugh like that!"
"Haha ...
"So you fell into a tank of hydrochloric acid and decided to become a supervillain? What, you can't work in a circus? Hahahaha!"
"What's wrong? I thought the Joker always wanted Batman to smile—"
"No, you're not Batman, come out here!"
Then the Joker saw that person. The Bat Demon King he had been dreaming of.
"You wanted to see me, didn't you, Joker? You wanted to make me laugh, and now that I've laughed, you're unhappy?"
"I'm asking you..."
The Joker watched as Batman slowly removed his mask.
Silvery-white particles swirled around him, creating a dreamlike scene that seemed unreal.
He heard Batman whisper, "I'm asking you, Joker..."
Have you ever danced with the devil under the bright moonlight?
With a clatter, the clown threw the gun to the ground. In the bright moonlight, the pale man looked at the equally pale face…
It felt like falling into an ice cave.
Let's rewind to two hours ago.
Thank you so much, Sadox, for the generous donation!
Thank you so much to the amazing Bihuabibi for the 1500 Qidian coins!
