Chapter 23 World Barrier
Chapter 23 World Barrier
With each level up, his soul and physical attributes increase by a maximum of 2. If he wanted any more, he felt his life force was flowing into a bottomless pit.
The same applies to his professional talent; at most, he can enhance it to two levels above his current rank.
Of course, this doesn't mean that Caesar's maximum combat power is as shown on the panel. If his vitality is sufficient, Caesar can simply fill in "Creative Mode" in the status column.
Such a physical body seems to be the limit for ordinary living beings.
It's important to know that all living beings start at the same level when acquiring a class, which is level ten. All living beings have the same combat power.
However, creatures like dragons, certain powerful magical beasts, and offspring of legendary creatures are born with a level of ten or higher and possess a class from birth.
Therefore, Caesar's panel, judging solely from the data on paper, seems to represent the pinnacle of life.
At least, in all these days, Caesar hasn't seen a single being in his dungeon whose physical and soul stats on average increase by two points per level; the strongest one averages only 1.6.
"I wonder what about beings like the [Hero] and the [Demon King]?"
A surge of curiosity ignited within Caesar.
When the hero comes in, he will definitely look him down from head to toe and see right through him!
Besides exploring the limits of biological life, Caesar also attempted to change the class of monsters like goblins.
For example, changing a Goblin class to [Elf Archer].
The result was a failure, whether it was changing a goblin with a fixed class, changing a goblin that was not yet level 10, or trying to directly generate a goblin with the class of [Elf Archer].
He failed at all of the above attempts.
Unlike trying to assign the classes "Hero" or "Demon King" to monsters, which requires an endless drain on life force, creating an "Elf Archer" goblin is simply impossible.
It's like asking an ant to know how vast the universe is, to understand relativity, and to create a unified theory. Caesar was completely baffled.
This is a realm even more difficult to reach than that of heroes and demon kings.
A goblin can only be a goblin.
Such is the fundamental law of the world: unless one becomes a demon king, goblins cannot defy the heavens.
This also applies to all species within Caesar's Dungeon—including Caesar himself, who cannot change his own class.
Caesar tested every race he could find in the world, and the result was the same: no race could break free from its innate limitations.
Besides that, his biggest discovery was:
Caesar discovered that the beings he created, such as elves, humans, dwarves, and orcs, began to die immediately after birth. Unless Caesar continuously infused them with life force to maintain their form, they would die within ten minutes at most due to their souls collapsing.
There exists a mysterious force that protects certain races on Earth, preventing Caesar from creating them at will.
"Perhaps, once my true soul is revealed, I will be able to break through these rules..."
Each time Caesar updates the dungeon, his soul essence is enhanced. The most direct external manifestation is that the maximum level the dungeon can accommodate increases, which also represents the level of Caesar's soul.
Subsequently, Caesar became more adept at using life force, increasing its efficiency.
Perhaps in the next update, when he breaks through to a higher rank, he might gain some new abilities.
This was Caesar's first time visiting the Lord of the Underworld, and without any senior figures to guide him on the path ahead, he could only speculate.
"This is so worrying..."
Every day, Caesar discovers things that he couldn't do even if he had enough life points.
Like life changing class, directly sensing the surface without going through the slave contract with Oria, allowing oneself or the monsters in the dungeon to directly leave the dungeon, and directly editing the class talents of existing species...
He collectively referred to these things as the world's barriers.
His intuition told him that one day he would break through these barriers one by one.
There are instances of breakthroughs, but only one.
After Caesar updated the dungeons for the second time, he discovered that he could advance or postpone the opening and closing times of the dungeons by five minutes.
As far as he knew, all dungeons opened and closed at the same time, from 8 a.m. to midnight, which was definitely a kind of world barrier.
But he broke through this barrier, and who knows, he might be able to create something like "early six" in the future.
And so, in the midst of his passionate experiment, Caesar unknowingly endured another night.
It was Olya's calls of "boss" that morning that brought him back to his senses from the experiment.
"Isn't this the elf I tricked? How did you end up hooking up with her?"
"What flirting? Boss, you can't just say things like that. My heart is only for Miss Lucia and Miss Luna, whom I haven't even met yet."
Oria retorted, revealing all her extraordinary wisdom to Caesar.
"Adventure Guild..."
Caesar pondered the word, his eyes lighting up, and he suddenly asked,
"Oria, have you ever thought about forming an adventure team?"
"Boss, my father won't allow it. Of course, if you really want to, I'll go back and sever ties with the old man. Once I rise to power, I'll compensate him with a large fiefdom."
On the surface, Olya, Undine, and their group mingled in the crowd, queuing up to wait for the North Underground City to open.
Oliya uttered such blasphemous words without batting an eye.
Caesar shook his head, sternly criticizing Olya's lack of filial piety, and said, "There's no need to sever ties."
"Oria, all you need to do is recruit that hero named Willis into your adventurer party."
"Once a hero joins your adventurer party, all those noble rules are just fluff."
"Boss, what nonsense are you talking about..."
