Chapter 174 Little Devil Wood Carving
Chapter 174 Little Devil Wood Carving
During the three months he became an internet sensation, everyone fawned over him, even the company boss treated him with deference, and no one ever dared to speak to him like that.
Su Mu, this piece of trash whom he trampled underfoot, actually dared to tell him to get lost?
"Fine, very well." Lu Xingci gritted his teeth, suddenly raised his hand, and slapped Su Mu hard across the face.
The sharp crack was particularly jarring in the empty hallway.
Su Mu's head was turned to the side by the slap, blood immediately seeped from the corner of his mouth, and a clear handprint instantly appeared on his face.
"You dare hit me?" Su Mu looked at him in disbelief, her eyes bloodshot.
He clenched his fist, about to swing it at Lu Xingci.
But as soon as he raised his hand, two assistants who had been standing at the door rushed up and grabbed his arms tightly from both sides.
"Let me go! Lu Xingci, you bastard! Let me go!"
Su Mu struggled desperately, but he was already thin and was held down by two strong assistants, so he couldn't move at all.
"So what if I hit you?" Lu Xingci sneered and kicked Su Mu hard in the stomach.
"Ugh—" Su Mu groaned in pain, bent over, and cold sweat instantly soaked his back.
Lu Xingci did not stop; he punched and kicked Su Mu like a madman.
"I'll teach you to be so arrogant with me! I'll teach you to tell me to get lost!"
"Do you still think you're that high and mighty captain? You're just an unwanted dog now!"
"Let me tell you, Su Mu, as long as I, Lu Xingci, am alive, you'll never be able to hold your head high again!"
He would hit him hard for every word he said.
Su Mu's face and body were covered in bruises and bloodstains, and her hair was disheveled and stuck to her face, making her look extremely disheveled.
Lu Xingci stopped hitting her when he was tired. He straightened his wrinkled suit and wiped the blood off his hands with disgust.
Looking down at Su Mu, who was curled up on the ground covered in injuries, he spat out a curse:
"Useless trash. If you dare talk to me like that again, I'll break your legs."
After saying that, he and his two assistants walked into the elevator without looking back.
Su Mu was the only one left in the hallway.
He lay on the cold floor, his whole body aching as if it were falling apart, and he didn't have the strength to move at all.
Blood flowed from the corner of his mouth to his chin, dripping onto the floor and spreading into dark red flowers.
He stared at the magnificent crystal chandelier on the ceiling, tears silently streaming down his face.
On what grounds?
It was clearly Lu Xingci who wronged him, so why did he beat him up so recklessly?
I don't know how much time passed before my phone vibrated in my pocket.
Su Mu struggled to pull out her phone. Her manager's name was flashing on the screen.
He took a deep breath, answered the phone, and his voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible: "Feed..."
"Su Mu! What's wrong with you?"
The agent's roar came through the receiver, so loud it hurt his ears.
"Lu Xingci's assistant just called me and said you hit him? Are you crazy?!"
"I didn't hit him! He hit me!"
Su Mu shouted excitedly, "He beat me up like this, and you're just cursing me without even asking what happened?"
"So what if he hit you? Who told you to make him angry first?"
The agent's tone showed no sympathy whatsoever; instead, it was full of accusation.
"How many times have I told you to go along with him and not go against him! You just won't listen!"
"Now look what's happened! Lu Xingci complained to the boss, saying you deliberately caused trouble and want to be fired! Su Mu, let me tell you, I can't help you this time either!"
"Expelled?" Su Mu laughed, tears streaming down her face. "He hit me, and he wants to expel me? On what grounds?"
"Why should I? Because he's the company's cash cow now!"
The agent's voice was shrill and piercing.
"If you know what's good for you, go to the company first thing tomorrow morning and kowtow to Lu Xingci to apologize and beg for his forgiveness. Maybe he'll soften and let you stay. Otherwise, you can expect to be fired!"
"I'm not going!" Su Mu said, enunciating each word clearly. "I did nothing wrong, I won't apologize to him!"
"Whatever," the agent sneered. "You'll have to bear the consequences yourself. Don't say I didn't warn you."
After saying that, the phone was hung up.
The phone slipped from Su Mu's weak hand and fell to the floor.
Just then, thunder suddenly sounded outside.
Large raindrops pounded on the ground, quickly turning into a downpour.
He slowly got up from the ground and walked out of the apartment step by step.
The rain blurred his vision and washed away the blood and tears on his face.
He didn't know where he was going, or where he could go.
Suddenly his legs gave way and he fell heavily into the puddle by the roadside.
The icy rainwater choked him, and he coughed violently, coughing so hard it was heart-wrenching.
He lay in the puddles, too exhausted to get up.
His consciousness gradually faded, and despair overwhelmed him like a tidal wave.
Just then, a black umbrella suddenly appeared above his head, blocking the cold rain.
Su Mu struggled to lift his head and saw a man in a black trench coat standing in front of him.
The man wore a black hat and mask, covering most of his face, leaving only a pair of cold, cloudy eyes that were quietly watching him.
Do you want to be famous?
The man's voice was deep and hoarse, with a captivating power, and it was exceptionally clear amidst the sound of rain.
Su Mu looked at him, her lips moved, but no sound came out.
The man slowly squatted down and extended his hand.
A palm-sized black wooden carving lay in the palm of his hand.
It was a small, hideous demon statue with a blue face and fangs, its eyes inlaid with red beads that glowed eerily red in the dim, rainy night.
The wood carving was engraved with twisted runes and exuded a nauseating bloody smell and a chilling aura.
"As long as you accept it and offer it your own blood every day,"
The man's voice slithered into Su Mu's ears like a venomous snake.
"I guarantee that within a month, Lu Xingci will be kneeling before you begging for your life. Everything you've lost will be returned to you in double measure."
Su Mu looked at the hideous little ghost wood carving and instinctively felt fear.
But when he looked at his hands covered in scars, he remembered Lu Xingci's arrogant face, his manager's cold words, and his future with nothing.
That fear was instantly swallowed up by overwhelming hatred and resentment.
He reached out his trembling hand and gripped the wooden carving tightly.
A chilling sensation came from his palm, and a cold aura instantly traveled up his arm and into his internal organs.
Su Mu shivered, but gripped the bag even tighter.
A strange smile crept across the man's lips as he disappeared into the rain.
