Chapter 41: Making Money Through Live Streaming
Chapter 41: Making Money Through Live Streaming
Li Yuan turned the camera towards the table and adjusted the angle so that the lens could capture both the food on the table and the people sitting around it.
The table was covered with plates, several cups, and a dish of kimchi.
There were several bottles of beer and soft drinks under the table.
To be honest, Lee Won has been to South Korea more than once, but he still can't get used to the soju that tastes like industrial alcohol.
This morning he specifically asked Song Yuqi if everyone could drink alcohol.
Although all members of (G)I-DLE are adults, some people may not like to drink it.
Song Yuqi said she could drink a little, but then quietly added, "Don't buy soju," because she couldn't stand the taste either; every time she drank it, it felt like drinking disinfectant.
Zhao Meiyan is probably the one who can drink the most among the kids, but she can only drink two or three bottles of soju, so Li Yuan specially bought some cola and juice.
"Let's begin." Li Yuan raised his glass, which was filled with beer.
Given his drinking capacity, he should be able to chug straight from the bottle, but since everyone else is using glasses, he can't be the odd one out.
"Kids are all out now," Zhao Meiyan said cutely to the camera, then raised her glass.
"Oppa, aren't you going to say a toast?" Tian Xiaojuan asked, blinking and smiling at Li Yuan.
"What else is there to say?" Li Yuan raised his glass, his gaze sweeping over everyone at the table. "What I want to say is all in the wine."
As he spoke, he tilted his head back and downed the entire gulp.
"Wow, that's so cool!" Zhao Meiyan exclaimed exaggeratedly. "How could Xiaoyuan say something like that?"
As Zhao Meiyan spoke, the number of comments increased, especially from some viewers who could speak Korean.
"Zhao Meiyan calls Lao Wan Xiao Yuan, so it seems Lao Wan's real name is XXX Yuan."
"Shouldn't we be curious about the old bowl's age?"
"Yeah, so it seems he's younger than Meiyan, but older than Yuqi."
"Hey, you guys are opening it up for people already?"
"What's the big deal about turning it on or off? Wasn't the last video already mostly on?" Li Yuan glanced at the comments section.
"To be honest, Lao Wan is quite handsome. It's a shame he's not in the entertainment industry."
"That way, you've got a bit of my style now."
"You'll die if you don't brag! Don't you have any self-awareness about what you look like?"
"Being more handsome than you is all that matters."
Next, two friends who knew each other started arguing.
"If you can't drink, just have a little. There are drinks over there." Li Yuan frowned as he looked at Song Yuqi, whose face was already flushed after drinking half a glass. "If you can't drink, that's fine. Don't force yourself. Nobody will laugh at you."
"What?! I can't drink!" Song Yuqi immediately shouted, slamming her glass on the table. "I can't get drunk, okay!"
"I remember you were drunk back then, hugging..." Seeing her arrogant and stubbornly denying it, Li Yuan couldn't help but start to expose her.
"Hey hey hey!" Song Yuqi hurriedly reached out to cover Li Yuan's mouth.
The live chat exploded immediately:
"Did Lao Wan already know Yuqi?"
"Judging from this, it seems like we've known each other for a long time. More than just ordinary friends?"
"Back then," when exactly? There's a story behind that!
Li Yuan glanced at the comments, then at Song Yuqi, and only after she nodded did he say, "I've known her since I was a child. We grew up together in Beijing. In a way, she should call me brother."
The screen was instantly flooded with comments like "Brother-in-law," "Yuqi and I are true love," and "Is it too late to try and win you over?"
"It's too late to say that now." Li Yuan looked at Song Yuqi, who was laughing so hard she almost fell off the table because of the comments, and said, "You guys don't even have a captain, what else do you want to do?"
"So, does that mean Sister Qian and Yuqi are related?"
"If you count it that way, I guess you could say I am," Li Yuan thought for a moment. "But my relationship with them is quite distant, and with the two of them, it's even more distant."
If we go back several hundred years to our ancestors, we might actually be from the same family, but that wouldn't really make any sense.
Next, Zhao Meiyan and the other three praised Li Yuan's cooking as they went through the formalities.
Since it's about promoting a new album, most of the topics will definitely be related to the new songs.
They talked about everything from the achievements of this comeback to the concept introduction, from Tian Xiaojuan's creative process to the details of the dance choreography. They chatted back and forth, and the meal lasted for more than half an hour.
Next came the mini-games.
In the game of Truth or Dare, Song Yuqi was the first to be chosen.
She chose dare, and Li Yuan drew a slip of paper from the lottery box: "Say a cheesy pickup line to the person on your left."
The person sitting to her left is Zhao Meiyan.
Song Yuqi took a deep breath, turned her head, and said in a greasy tone that gave people goosebumps, "Do you know why my eyes are so beautiful? Because my eyes are full of you."
Zhao Meiyan froze for two seconds, then let out a scream, shrank into the chair, and frantically fanned the air with her hands, saying, "I have goosebumps all over."
Then came Song Yuqi, Tian Xiaojuan... even Li Yuan played it once.
To be honest, (G)I-DLE's variety show skills are quite good. Plus, they can argue and banter without any awkward silences, making their live streams very entertaining.
The barrage of comments never stopped from the start to the end of the broadcast, with one "Captain" and "SC" comment after another. Li Yuan was overjoyed as he watched the numbers constantly jumping in the background.
I should have just done a live stream; I could have made more money making videos.
It's tiring and slow; the time it takes to edit one video is enough for him to do three live streams.
That night, with the captain's earnings plus SC and donations, tens of thousands of yuan should be no problem.
No wonder everyone wants to make a living from the internet.
The live stream then ended with Li Yuan saying, "This live stream has come to an end. See you next time."
The moment the screen went dark, the atmosphere in the living room actually became more relaxed.
Without the camera's gaze and the barrage of comments, the four of them simultaneously shed their professional masks and relaxed completely.
"Wow, I'm so full!" As soon as she turned off the live stream, Song Yuqi let out a strange cry, leaned back in her chair, and spread her arms out.
"Yes." Xu Suizhen rubbed her stomach, her brows furrowed slightly, as if she were calculating how many calories she had consumed in that meal.
She glanced at the remaining plates on the table, then at her back, and sighed.
"It really is delicious!" Tian Xiaojuan nodded.
"Welcome to come again next time." Li Yuan put the chopsticks on the table. "Even when you're not live streaming, you can come anytime. Just tell me what you'd like to eat in advance and I'll make it for you."
Watching them happily eat their food and then let out a satisfied sigh is the greatest sense of accomplishment and reward for the cook.
I think the reason I started learning to cook was because...
He glanced at Song Yuqi.
It seems like it's because of her, right?
When Li Yuan was little, Song Yuqi would pester him for delicious food. Also, when Li Yuan was little, his parents were too busy to come home, so he had to cook for himself.
Back then, Song Yuqi would often come to his house for meals, taking it for granted and never being polite.
"Hey, why are you staring at me?" Song Yuqi noticed his gaze, rolled her eyes, and said, "Are you thinking about something naughty?"
"I think you were cuter when you were a child."
