Chapter 51 Three-Party Meeting
Chapter 51 Three-Party Meeting
The man by the window was a middle-aged man in his fifties, with a round face and slightly overweight. He wore a very ordinary dark blue polo shirt and his hair was neatly combed. He didn't look like the head of an entertainment empire at all, but rather like a friendly uncle you might encounter while exercising in the neighborhood.
This man is Wang Changtian.
Sitting next to him was Zheng Baorui, in his early forties, lean, wearing black-rimmed glasses, with sharp eyes and a habitually downturned mouth; he looked like a difficult person to talk to.
Su Youpeng was also present, sitting on the sofa on the other side, chatting with Wang Changtian while holding a teacup. The two seemed to be having a pleasant conversation.
"Here it comes!"
Wang Changtian was the first to stand up. He looked Su Yu up and down, his eyes lighting up. He turned to Zheng Baorui and said, "Baorui, see? I didn't lie to you, did I?"
Zheng Baorui pushed up his glasses, his gaze lingering on Su Yu for a few seconds, from his broad shoulders to his long, straight legs, finally settling on his angular face.
He nodded slightly and whispered something to Wang Changtian, indicating that he was satisfied.
Wang Changtian walked over, didn't shake hands, and directly slapped Su Yu on the shoulder with a force that was neither too light nor too heavy. He was quite an old man who seemed to know Su Yu well.
"Young man, I've seen all your rough cuts, they're great."
Su Youpeng raved about you to me, saying you single-handedly boosted the entire crew's efficiency. I thought he was just bragging, but after watching the footage, I realized that this rascal was actually holding back some things.
Su Yu smiled and said neither humbly nor arrogantly:
"Mr. Wang, you flatter me. Talented people are common, but discerning mentors are rare. I should thank Director Su for giving me this role."
Upon hearing this, Su Youpeng immediately put down his teacup, nodded with a smug yet pleased expression:
"Hahahaha, big brother, how is it? Pretty good, right?"
Wang Changtian laughed heartily. How many people did Su Yu praise with those words? At least three, right? It seems he praised him too. Not bad, not bad. The more I look at Su Yu, the more I like him. This young man is quite good!
"Come, sit down, don't be shy, I love chatting with young people."
Wang Changtian pulled Su Yu to sit down on the sofa, and then sat down opposite him.
"I heard you're pretty good at action scenes? Perfect timing, our 'Tomb Raiders' series has a lot of action sequences, and Zhang Qiling is practically the pinnacle of martial arts!"
If you really know some martial arts, wow, then this role is truly made for you! Nobody can take it away from you!
This was exactly what Su Yu was waiting for.
He stood up from the sofa, rolled up his sleeves, revealing his well-defined forearms:
"Since Mr. Wang brought it up, shall I demonstrate for you?"
Wang Changtian's eyes lit up, and he became interested:
"Want to spar a bit? Come on! I want to see if you're as good as the rumors say!"
Su Yu nodded, and the [Grandmaster] skill was instantly activated!
The golden words lit up on the panel, and an overwhelming warmth surged from the dantian, instantly flowing through the limbs and bones.
When Su Yu opened his eyes again, his entire aura changed.
He assumed a starting stance.
In an instant, the teacup in Wang Changtian's hand stopped in mid-air.
Su Yu started to move.
Each move is as smooth as flowing clouds and water, slow as a pine tree sinking into a deep abyss, and fast as a sudden thunderclap!
The force of the punch carried a faint, low sound of air being torn apart.
His figure rose and fell in the sunlight streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, every joint and every muscle demonstrating what it means to move at will.
In the final movement, Su Yu brought his feet together, slowly pressed his hands down, and exhaled while concentrating.
The meeting room was silent for a full three seconds.
Su Youpeng stared wide-eyed. After being an actor for so long, he had no idea that Su Yu had these skills!
The teacup in Wang Changtian's hand was still suspended in mid-air. He looked as if he had been acupunctured, his mouth slightly open and his eyes wide open.
Then he suddenly came to his senses, turned to look at Zheng Baorui, and asked with a smug yet knowing look on his face:
"Baorui, what do you think?"
Zheng Baorui stopped talking, pushed up his glasses, and the sharp scrutiny in his eyes was completely replaced by the excitement of a hunter who had spotted the perfect prey!
"Ahem, Su Yu!"
His voice trembled slightly, barely suppressed. The moment he found a suitable actor for his role, he felt an immense sense of accomplishment. Moreover, Su Yu's performance and image were exactly like Zhang Qiling straight out of the book!
What the hell is there to say?!
"Do you know how many actors I auditioned for the role of Zhang Qiling? Never mind, I'll just mention one!"
You're the first person who made me feel that this character could totally be filmed in close-up fight scenes right up to their face! And the effect would definitely be absolutely explosive!!
He walked up to Su Yu, looking him up and down as if he were examining a work of art that had accidentally fallen to earth.
"He has backbone, soul, and charisma! He doesn't need a stunt double for action scenes, nor does he need to use long shots or camera tricks. He's got the looks, so the camera just zooms in on him—he is Zhang Qiling!"
"Thank you for the compliment, Director Zheng. You're making me dizzy with praise."
"Hahaha, young people should be more spirited! You have the right to be!"
Zheng Baorui, contrary to his previous demeanor, laughed heartily, then looked between Su Yu and Wang Changtian:
"Shall we finalize the contract?"
"Okay!"
Leave the professional work to the professionals," Su Yu said, glancing at Tangyuan.
Tangyuan understood immediately, pulled a folder out of his briefcase, adjusted his glasses, and entered negotiation mode.
The payment was agreed upon immediately: three million, a price that satisfied all parties.
What followed was more than an hour of detailed discussions.
Su Yu listened attentively from the side. Tang Yuan was like a tigress in an attack stance, biting off every single point, from scheduling to profit sharing, from publicity resources to subsequent cooperation, leaving no stone unturned.
Zheng Baorui was amused by her posture and raised his hands in surrender several times, saying:
"Fine, fine, what good deeds did your artists do in their past lives to end up with a manager like you?"
The last problem is the most tricky: scheduling.
Su Youpeng put down his cup, frowned, and said:
"The filming period for The Left Ear is still three months away. Although Su Yu is the second male lead, he plays a role throughout the entire film."
If I were to send him to the capital to film "The Lost Tomb" right now, I wouldn't be able to film anything here.
Zheng Baorui also frowned:
"The filming of 'The Lost Tomb' has actually been underway for a few days. Zhang Qiling's scenes are being filmed in the early stages, and we're burning through money every day while waiting for the lead actors to arrive."
If the second male lead doesn't perform well, I'll have a hard time explaining it to the production company.
The atmosphere was somewhat tense.
