Chapter 1497: Everyone Has a Different Standpoint
Just after getting off the operating table, he hadn’t returned to his office yet when he was ’intercepted’ by a doctor on the way, "Dean, the patient in bed 3 insists that you do the rounds. He says you’re the most professional. Actually, his condition is quite stable now, but only when he sees you can he be at ease." The doctor reported softly beside him."Okay, I’ll go in a while." Ian Shelby was a busy man, but he wasn’t impatient.
"Thank you, Dean." After speaking, the doctor left.
When Ian Shelby walked into the office, another doctor followed in to report back, "Dean, the condition of the patient in bed five yesterday has stabilized, but..."
Ian Shelby washed his hands again, listening attentively, despite having stood in the operating room for four hours just now.
"Okay, put the patient’s file on my desk, and I’ll look at it in a while."
"Okay, thank you. I’ll go get busy now."
After washing his hands, Ian Shelby sat back in his office chair, finished his current tasks, and went to see the aunt in bed 3 who just had surgery.
The aunt said she felt at ease only after seeing him, so Ian Shelby stayed patiently to chat with her and offer her encouragement.
Returning to the office again, he took a sip of tea, opened his phone, and didn’t see any message from Jocelyn.
Gathering enough longing, he typed a few words to send: What are you doing?
A brief four-word message, representing the meaning that he misses her, longing is full and overflowing, he couldn’t help but contact her.
But a minute passed, two minutes passed, and there was still no reply from her.
Could it be that the phone isn’t by her side?
Or perhaps she fell asleep?
Just as Ian Shelby was about to call Jocelyn Morgan, another doctor came in to report work, so Ian Shelby had to put away his phone, fully devoting himself to work.
Patiently listening, analyzing, giving good suggestions and plans.
His attitude was gentle, affable, like a sacred light, always giving a calming feeling to the team and patients.
In the Morgan family, a bedroom door upstairs was gently pushed open, and Jasmine entered carrying a bowl of bird’s nest soup.
The girl, momentarily lost in thought while standing by the window, collected her thoughts upon hearing the footsteps and slowly turned her gaze, by which time Jasmine had already reached her side.
"Aunt." Jocelyn greeted respectfully, although she was not in high spirits.
"Come, drink this bowl of bird’s nest soup first, to nourish your body." Jasmine was genuinely worried about her, caring for her like her own daughter.
Jocelyn Morgan could understand her feelings and all her actions.
But understanding doesn’t mean acceptance, "Aunt, please give me back my phone." Her tone carried a bit of pleading and also a bit of helplessness.
"Drink this first, be good." Jasmine’s eyes were full of love.
Facing Aunt’s gaze, Jocelyn Morgan finally took the bone china bowl with both hands, drank it all in one go obediently, then turned and put down the empty bowl, "Aunt, can I have my phone back now?"
Jasmine sighed lightly, without the intention of doing so.
There seemed to be a heavy psychological burden, actually, as an elder, in a role similar to that of a foster mother, Jasmine was also deeply conflicted internally.
The matter between Jocelyn and Dr. Shelby was delicate, after all, she wasn’t her own daughter, yet more so than one.
Jasmine truly didn’t want to experience a second loss; those nerve-racking days were truly excruciating, living every day in guilt over her brother and sister-in-law.
Finally having a chance to make amends, she didn’t want the tragedy to repeat itself.
From an elder’s perspective, she also hoped that Jocelyn would have a safe and stable life, which isn’t wrong.
