Chapter 234: To Forgive or Not
Chapter 234: To Forgive or Not
Just after Gu’s father left.Gu Yi could no longer find inspiration for painting.
Her mind kept spinning with what Gu’s father said about Ye Hao being hungry outside.
She threw the pen in her hand aside.
Sitting on the sofa, she looked towards the door.
She admitted that Ye Hao’s actions today made her feel like she had vented some emotions too.
Why was she always the one submitting to him?
She had her own temper too.
Though she acted very calm in front of her dad, she was thinking again now.
With Ye Hao’s stamina, it shouldn’t be that after standing for a while, his face would turn pale.
Could it be that he’s still injured and hasn’t recovered to his previous state?
Would he just collapse standing there?
Gu Yi couldn’t sit still at the thought of this and got up to walk towards the door.
Her hand touched the doorknob, then she pulled it back.
Such a grown man, yet doesn’t take care of himself.
She decided to leave it alone, after all, it’s his own matter.
Thinking this, Gu Yi went back inside, grabbed her clothes, and went to shower.
After finishing her shower, she looked at the direction of the door again.
When Gu’s father came out, he saw Gu Yi intently watching the door with furrowed brows.
"Yiyi, why don’t you call him back? After all, he’s been injured, and certainly not as strong as before. If he really collapses outside the door, it’d be serious."
Gu’s father was exaggerating the situation.
Gu Yi thought it was not likely.
But she opened the door anyway.
Ye Hao quickly stood up when he saw Gu Yi.
Immediately put on a smile.
"Yiyi."
"You’d better go back quickly, don’t stay here. If something happens, we can’t afford it."
Gu Yi said expressionlessly.
"It’s fine, Yiyi, you don’t need to worry about me, I know what I’m doing."
After hearing Gu Yi’s words, Ye Hao stopped smiling too.
Instead, he sat back on the steps.
"Are you planning to stay here all night?"
Gu Yi saw Ye Hao seemed a bit angry, and she felt even more uncomfortable.
Is this the attitude of admitting a mistake?
"Do you think that by playing the pity card, I will surely soften and agree to forgive you?"
From Gu Yi’s tone, it was clear she was angry.
"Yiyi, I didn’t."
Ye Hao stood up abruptly and said.
Gu Yi saw him leaning to one side.
"Dad."
Gu Yi was frightened and hurried to grab him while calling for her dad.
Gu’s father was just standing a bit behind Gu Yi.
When she called, he quickly held onto Gu Yi.
Otherwise, he dared not imagine what might happen.
Ye Hao also quickly grabbed the railing to steady himself.
Then hurried to check on Gu Yi.
"Yiyi, are you okay? You’re pregnant, and still tried to pull me. What were you thinking? Do you know how dangerous it was just now? If dad hadn’t pulled you from behind, I would never have been at peace for the rest of my life. No matter what happens to me in the future, your safety is the most important, got it?"
Gu Yi realized the situation and was also very scared.
"Alright, alright, let’s go inside and talk, don’t stand here anymore."
Gu’s father helped Gu Yi inside first, and Ye Hao followed them in.
Gu’s father settled Gu Yi on the sofa and immediately busied himself preparing food for Ye Hao.
Ye Hao immediately sat beside Gu Yi and held her hand.
"Yiyi, I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m not angry, nor was I trying to use pity. I just feel sorry for you. After we got married, it was always you waiting for me. Back then, you were at home, and I was in the army. You waited for me to come home once or twice a year. Then you came to B City, and I still didn’t have time to accompany you, constantly training or on missions. You were also alone at home. Later, I carelessly forgot about you, making you worried, scared, sad, and hurt. I’ve been a very incompetent husband. Recently, I’ve been reflecting a lot. Could you give me another chance? I promise to love and cherish you well. Although I still can’t give you a lot of my time, you’ll always be the one in my heart, used to be, now is, and will be forever."
Gu Yi let him hold her hand.
Listening to what Ye Hao said, her tears kept falling like a broken string of beads.
"I don’t know, I’m scared. I’m afraid that when I wake up, you’ll be like you were just after you woke up injured. Those eyes of yours chilled my heart."
This was the first time Gu Yi talked to Ye Hao about her feelings during that time.
Watching Gu Yi crying in front of him, it felt as if those tears were acid, dripping onto Ye Hao’s heart.
He gently reached out and wiped Gu Yi’s tears away.
"I’m sorry, Yiyi. It won’t happen again, I promise. Those who have hurt you will be punished, including myself. Please trust me just once more, okay?"
Ye Hao’s eyes also became moist.
"Ye Hao must have low blood sugar, hurry and eat something."
Before hearing Gu Yi’s response, Gu’s father quickly placed the food on the table and said to Ye Hao.
"Dad, I’m fine. Just got up too quickly just now."
Only then did Gu’s father notice that both of them seemed to have been crying.
Realizing his timing wasn’t the best.
"Alright then, you keep talking."
After saying that, he returned to the kitchen.
"I don’t know, I need to think it over."
Gu Yi couldn’t give Ye Hao an answer right now.
"Okay, Yiyi, whatever choice you make, I respect it. But I won’t give up. Don’t worry too much. You were just scared too, rest early tonight. I’ll head to mom’s place first. I have to return to the army tomorrow morning. I’ll come to see you again next week."
Ye Hao knew that this was the time to let Gu Yi think things over. He initially wanted to kiss her but held back in the end.
"Dad, I’m leaving now."
Ye Hao called out towards the kitchen.
"Have something to eat before you go. I made it."
Gu’s father hurried out and said.
"I’m not eating, I’ll go first, let Yiyi rest well, thank you, dad."
Saying this, Ye Hao walked out the door.
"Ah, this kid really, you two, both are really stubborn. Yiyi, were you scared just now?"
After exclaiming, Gu’s father quickly asked Gu Yi.
"Dad, I want to go back to my room, I’m tired today."
Gu Yi wanted some time to calm down too.
"Okay, go on, sleep on it, and the answers will become clearer."
Gu’s father also knew that he couldn’t push Gu Yi at this moment.
Lying in bed, Gu Yi placed her hand on her belly.
"Did I scare you today?"
Gu Yi said, touching her belly.
Where her hand rested, there was a sudden kick, as if responding to her.
"Do you think we should forgive him?"
Gu Yi asked, finding it a bit funny herself.
"I always knew your dad was a good person. But sometimes, a good person can be the most infuriating. In a past life too, his unintentional kindness always made people want to have more, and in the end, they lost themselves."
Gu Yi reflected on her previous life, even up to the end of her life.
She never knew Ye Hao’s true feelings towards her.
Apart from herself, everyone around her said Ye Hao was a good husband, a good partner.
She couldn’t understand how they saw it.
